The Choice in This Election

Two candidates. Two very different records. One clear choice.

Both candidates come from our community. But when it comes to standing up for the people who live and work here, their records could not be more different.

While families struggle with rising costs, Gloria Mendoza:
- Voted against creating a statewide program to lower energy bills for low-income households—even when the final bill passed with 70 bipartisan votes.[1]
- Voted against eliminating property restrictions that can prevent grocery stores and pharmacies from opening in underserved communities.[2]
- Voted against expanding protections for workers who need Paid Family and Medical Leave.[3]
At a time when access to healthcare is under attack, Gloria Mendoza:
- Voted against protecting continued access to preventive healthcare without out-of-pocket costs, including screenings, well-child visits, and immunizations.[4]
- Voted against legislation improving access to abortion medication, including misoprostol.[5]
- Voted against allowing patients to receive a 12-month supply of prescribed hormone therapy when their health plan already covers that medication.[6]
When immigrant families needed their representative to stand with them, Gloria Mendoza:
- Voted twice against HB 2105, the Immigrant Worker Protections Act. The legislation requires employers to notify workers about federal I-9 inspections and allows workers to hold employers accountable when they violate those protections.[7]
- Voted against allowing workers to use their earned paid sick leave to prepare for or participate in immigration proceedings involving themselves or a family member.[8]
- Voted against requiring private detention facilities to report allegations of abuse or neglect, deaths, suicides, and serious injuries to the Department of Health and local law enforcement.[9]
When local communities needed additional public-safety resources, Gloria Mendoza voted against a bipartisan package that created new grant funding to hire, retain, and train law enforcement officers, strengthen community policing, and support behavioral-health co-response.[10]

Chelsea Will Put Our Community First

Chelsea will fight to lower the cost of living, create pathways to good jobs, protect access to healthcare, invest in effective public safety, and defend immigrant workers and families from exploitation and federal overreach.

This race is not simply about who shares our story. It is about who will stand up for us when the votes are counted.

What I’m fighting for

Working families are doing everything right and still struggling to keep up with the cost of housing, groceries, utilities, childcare, transportation, and healthcare. That is not sustainable.
I will fight to lower everyday costs, build more affordable housing, strengthen protections for renters, provide relief for struggling homeowners, and expand down-payment assistance for first-time and first-generation homebuyers. I will also work to make childcare, healthcare, prescription medications, and energy bills more affordable.
Everyone who works hard in Central Washington should be able to afford a safe home, care for their family, and build a secure future.
Workers keep our economy running. They pick the food on tables across the country, care for us during medical emergencies, stock our stores, and build and maintain our roads, facilities, and homes. Every worker deserves a living wage, safe working conditions, fair benefits, job security, and the freedom to organize—regardless of immigration status.
I will fight to protect workers from wage theft, exploitation, discrimination, and retaliation. I will also expand career and technical education, union apprenticeships, community college programs, and workforce training connected to good-paying jobs here in Central Washington.
Economic growth should benefit the workers and communities that make it possible—not just the largest corporations.
No one should have to delay care because it costs too much, is too far away, or is not available in a language they understand.
I will fight to protect access to preventive and reproductive healthcare, lower prescription costs, address staffing shortages, and preserve healthcare services in rural communities. I will support nurses, caregivers, and other healthcare workers fighting for safe staffing, fair pay, and better patient care.
Quality healthcare should be available to everyone—regardless of income, zip code, language, gender identity, or immigration status.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, neighborhood, school, and workplace.
I will fight for the resources our communities need to recruit and train law enforcement officers, improve emergency response, and expand behavioral-health and crisis-response services. I will also invest in proven approaches to preventing domestic violence, gun violence, addiction, and youth crime before tragedy occurs.
Real community safety requires accountability, trust, prevention, and effective emergency response. I will work with local leaders, first responders, service providers, and the people most affected to build safer communities for everyone.

Immigrant families are the heart of Central Washington. Our parents, neighbors, and coworkers should be able to go to work, take their children to school, seek healthcare, and live their lives without fear of being separated from their families.
I will fight to protect our community from ICE overreach, prevent state and local resources from being used for federal immigration enforcement, and ensure workers can report unsafe conditions, wage theft, and exploitation without risking deportation. I will also work to expand legal assistance, language access, and rapid-response resources for families targeted by immigration enforcement.
These are our families, and I will never stop fighting for them.
Every child deserves a high-quality education and the opportunity to build a successful future.
I will fight to fully fund our public schools, increase mental-health resources, and ensure educators, paraeducators, bus drivers, custodians, nutrition workers, and other school employees earn living wages. I will also support early learning, universal childcare, culturally relevant curricula, career and technical education, and pathways from high school to college, apprenticeships, or good-paying careers.
Our schools should give every student the support and opportunity to succeed—regardless of their family’s income, language, immigration status, disability, or zip code.
Central Washington has lived with the consequences of environmental neglect and corporate exploitation for generations. Our communities face contaminated drinking water, extreme heat, unhealthy air, and increasingly destructive wildfires while powerful interests continue to put profits ahead of people.
I will fight to protect our land, water, and air, hold polluters accountable, and make sure every family has access to safe drinking water. I will also support clean-energy investments that create good-paying union jobs and help agricultural workers, firefighters, and rural communities prepare for the growing effects of climate change.
Our children and future generations deserve a healthy, livable Central Washington.
